Our home parish of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Scottsdale, AZ held a Community Outreach Day yesterday. Parishioners and friends came together to pack 304 hygiene kits to be distributed by IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) throughout the U.S. and the world where tragedy has struck. These simple kits allow those who have been dispossessed of their homes to have items for personal hygiene.

We also put together 140 additional kits to be distributed to those in need in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area. All items in the kits were donated by members of our wonderful parish!

The effort was spearheaded by the Ladies Philanthropic Society (Philoptochos/Friends of the Poor), under the prayers of Fr. Andrew Barakos and Fr. Jacob Saylor.
A Blood Drive was also held by Vitalant concurrently to help the greater Phoenix area.

Finally, we had Joe and Trudy from Be the Match also collecting samples from volunteers to help those needing a stem cell transplant.

God is good and His Glory blesses all people. “…inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it unto Me” (Matthew 25:40)
