After docking in Kerkira, Corfu we board a bus to take us to almost the opposite side of the island.

The scenery is beautiful. This island, like many in Greece, has a walled fortress around it and has been inhabited over time by many neighboring nations.
But, it is in beautiful Paleokastritsa that one sees the Greece that we all love…look at the color and clarity of the water!

The cave of the eye (mati) was challenging, but well worth the effort!

It is a small monastery with only a few nuns who subsist on donations and the crops they can grow and items that they make by hand.

Afterward, back in Old Town Kerkira, we visit the famous church of St. Spyridon, namesake of my grandfather, whose tomb in this very church holds his still incorrupt blessed body.
