    Civitavecchia,Rome and Vatican City

On our last visit to Italy we skipped Rome in lieu of Pisa. We only had a day to spend, so we saw the leaning tower and went to a nearby beach. The wait was worth it! Aside frome the maddening crowds at Vatican city, we truly enjoyed our tour of the area and the fried artichokes we ate later that day. Is it any wonder that Roma is Amor in reverse?!

    The crowds, the crowds!

Spectacular and unusual floor tiles containing lapis lazuli
    The Michelangelo masterpiece, the Pieta
    Opulence of the basilica
    Our necessary tickets!
    The Swiss Guardsmen
